  3. Focusing the Eyepiece

  6. Turn the eyepiece counterclockwise 
  7. until the circle in the center of the field 
  8. is blurred.  Then turn the eyepiece 
  9. clockwise until the circle just comes into 
  10. sharp focus.  The measuring scales are 
  11. visible in the top half of the field and 
  12. these should also be in sharp focus now.

  14. Some models have a lever just below
  15. the eyepiece which removes the scale
  16. from view.
